We interrupt your scheduled update...

for well, a program? I'm not sure...a little backwards, right? Isn't it supposed to be "we interrupt your scheduled program for this update?" But whatever.

I just want the world to know I finally finished painting my bedroom! It's only taken me 2 different paint colors and...ahem...2 months. But hey, being jobless leaves me with lots of time for that stuff...but I still wish I had a job!!

I will post pics of my newly painted bedroom as soon as I do touchups on the trim.

I also have a new friend in the house. He is a surprise and will be revealed soon, but let me just say, he is a big FAN of my work ;)

Stay cool in the heat guys!

A Bathroom Update

Just as I promised, I'm back today with a bathroom update. I'm super proud of the work that I have done in this room, and I hope you like it!

Just a reminder of the bathroom pre-paint:

And here is the bathroom now, after paint and accessories, some that are new since the last update!
Extra long shower curtain with pretty natural hooks.

Towels seen in last update, plus a shadow box frame with print from Hobby Lobby. Not sure if the print will stay or not, Thoughts?

These framed shells were in my mom's first house after her divorce.  I love that I was able to continue the tradition with having them in my new place!

Shot of updated counter accessories (don't mind the picture-less frame) with a shot of the amazing picture my photographer bestie sent me!

Close up of the shells.

Close up of the print from Chelsea, owner of Chelsea Patricia Photography. This picture was taken several years ago at the beach and is typical me: reading while everyone else is playing sports!

Close up of counter accessories. Again, sorry for the picture-less frame!

In case you are interested, check out Chelsea's photography at www.chelseapatricia.com . She is an amazingly talented wedding photographer, so check her out!!

Hope you like the updates I made in the bathroom. I'm super proud of them, and I would love to hear your feedback!

Check back soon for an update of my bedroom!

A Long Over-Due Update

I have been meaning to post pictures of my super-awesome porch for a while, but this is the first time I have stopped to do it. And since I am in the updating mode, look out for updates of each room this week!

So the porch is the perfect spot-I'm on the top floor so I can see past the other buildings to the view. It really is the best place to watch the sunset or eat a yummy dinner!

In case you forgot, here is what the porch looked like when I moved in.
The view from the porch door.
Porch before.
Dark stormy porch. Unfortunately it looks like that a lot right now :(
Door to the front of the porch.

After a little bit of love, the porch is looking a lot better. The chairs were my boyfriend's grandfather's. The table was bought SUPER on-sale at Target to match the wrought iron of the chairs. The tray on the table was the first purchase and inspired the whole balcony. The tray, wine glasses, napkins, and napkin holders all came from  Pier One. The plates, bowls, and cups came from Target. The cushions were a bit of a splurge, but I bought them one at a time from World Market until I had all 4. At $20 a piece they were a little more than what I wanted to spend, but I saved for them until I had the money. They were one of the first things I put in my new apartment, and I'm so excited to finally share the new porch space with you!
Porch after.
The small table also came from my boyfriend. Here are the beautiful cushions from World Market!
The tray that inspired the whole patio space. I love the tray so much!!
A close up of the napkins and the napkin holders.
I still want to add some sort of natural rug, possibly bamboo, to make the space look more polished (and to cover up the stained concrete floors!) and possibly add some sort of curtains to create more privacy, block out some of the sun in the morning, as well as make the space look more like an outdoor room than a patio on an apartment.

Up next will be an update of the bathroom. It's the most finished room in my apartment and I'm so excited to share it with you!

New Job Prospects

I am looking into getting paid for blogging. This might be the start of an exciting new direction in my writing life! My family always says that I should do this for a living, so maybe I'll start now!

I also am looking into a few other work-from-home options. In case you didn't know, I recently injured my ankle to the point where I'm not able to work at the Hangout for the moment. Anyone who knows a place I can work in the Gulf Shores area, let me know!!

But like I said, I am looking to get paid for blogging, and one of the sites requires me to post something on my blog so that they know it's me...so ignore the following sentence! a sprocket found in the backseat

Stay tuned for a blog about picking fabrics and paint colors...one that has been a LONG time coming!
